Recently, a selected group of theatre students had the opportunity to show the
overwhelming passion and dedication of KIS drama through attending the ASIS
Collaborative Theatre Festival held at Dwight School Seoul.
The group of eight students traveled to Seoul on April 9th and stayed the night at
the Lotte City Hotel where they rehearsed for the introductory performance that would be
taking place the following day. On April 10th, the KISJ students went to Dwight School
Seoul and met up with different international schools from all over South Korea. All the
schools showed amazing performances along with a lot of passion for drama. After the
first assembly, the students from each schools were divided into 11 groups for preparation
for the final performance on Saturday. Each group had a director, a playwright, a techie,
and actors. The students showed dedication for their tasks, working and rehearsing from
7:00am to 1:00am.
On the day of the final performance, the students were busier than ever, planning a
perfect production. Many parents attended the festival with high hopes, and the
performances of all eleven groups went above and beyond all expectations.
This collaborative festival not only challenged students to go outside of their
boundaries and work in their field of theatre, but also gave an opportunity for the students
to become more global and interactive. All eleven groups consisted of students from
different schools which helped the students to enhance their communication skills. We
are planning to participate in this program again, so that more students can be able to
experience this wonderful festival.
