Since many students have left Jeju for Service Leading and Learning Trips, there are only juniors in KIS including some of younger students who have chosen to stay in Jeju. This week would be quite tough and depressing from the perspective of 11th graders because they only get to take core courses(math, science, history, and english) or AP courses if the students have any of the AP classes. Indeed, KIS, in order to praise and encourage the eldest of the school, arranges special Pastoral Care on this Friday.
Pastoral Care is the adventure or trip that each advisory is split into its own destination with advisers. Thanks to KIS, under protection of one adult per advisory, students have their chances to enjoy freedom choosing where to go, what to eat, and what to do. Compared to the previous ones, upcoming Pastoral Care will be more exciting due to its longer time and new schedule. From lunch time, every advisory will be dismissed from the school and have its own Pastoral Care freely. In addition, students are allowed to go to the airport right away and take their flights since the break starts from the Friday; thus, students are especially excited about this outing.
Within their own advisory group, students get to spend more times with their adviser and friends: this is the most precious part of Pastoral Care for students. Outside of school, students experience interesting memories that will enhance not only their cooperative skill with friends but also the relationship between teacher and oneself. It would be a great opportunity for students to interact with teacher beyond the academical subjects and to speak English while undergoing the daily life.
