Winter Social - The Creation of Collaboration

On December 12th, the Winter Social, designed by student council, was held in the 4th floor mini PAC. All KIS students and faculty were welcome to come and celebrate the end of the calendar year. “It was the best event student council has planned during the last four years. Both students and teachers deeply appreciated and enjoyed the time we spent together,” April Kim commented.

The event began with a warm welcome from Jake P. (G11) and John H. (G11) the student council president and vice president. Jake and John then passed the mid to the emcees to lead off the award ceremony. The awards included: School Clown, Honey Vocal Cord, Energizer, Attention-Seeker, Couple of the Year, and Dragon of the Year. The winners were chosen by the high school students. They received a certificate along with fascinating prizes. In between each award announcement, dancers, singers, and bands performed. The affair ended with a raffle and farewell from the student council.

Tony Y. (G11) stated that the party was designed through focused group discussion and teamwork. Student council members purchased decorations and snacks, decorated the PAC, and prepared for the award ceremony behind the scenes. They faced challenges in time management and preparation regarding the awards, but overcame them with cooperation. The Winter Social was a huge success because of their hard work. Diana H., a 9th grade representative added, “Considering the time and effort, I think the event was successful.”

This social event was special because all members of the student council cooperated to accomplish certain goals and as an outcome, every member was satisfied and happy. “Not only did it make us happy, we have created memories for the students,” Diana H. said delightedly. Also, it was the first event featuring student designed awards. The whole high school collaborated in this ceremony and this gave the Winter Social special value.
