BLENDING ARTS AND MATHS - NLCS J
NLCS Jeju currently had a fantastic Arts week with different kinds of entertainments and classics to enjoy, after a whole school year. This year, some year 9s went on a project called “Polygram Fort”. “Polygram Fort” is a project where students build different kinds of polyhedrons or different structures, which each of year 9s designed in 3D using clay.
On last Monday, year 9s were in the art room, learning from the teachers how to actually make a stable and pretty polyhedron. The students kept on cutting, sticking, measuring, cutting again, and started to make the base of a polyhedron. The students learned enthusiastically because they had to teach the year 7s and 8s the following two days.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the year 7s and 8s came, helping the year 9s to finish their 3 - Dimensional polyhedron. “It was both great experience for all the three year groups. We got some techniques about clay, the two year groups got to learn what a polyhedron was, and the three year groups got to know about each other.” (Lizzy Lee, Year 9, Geomun House)
There were also lots of other workshops and entertainments going on for the week, and the Arts Week has officially closed yesterday, 19 June 2015.
