The final due date of IB and IGCSE choices is impending and it seems as though many students of NLCS Jeju are still struggling to make their final decisions. At this point, the stresses from this exorbitant responsibility are reaching its peak and conversation of “ the right choice” is prevailing throughout the community.
And these ‘right choice” seems to be crucial in majority of the students’ minds, having an immense impact on future university applications.
Especially for the Year 11s, the stresses from the IB options and upcoming IGCSE exams are extreme. Deciding their IB choices seems as important as getting high grades in IGCSE, as they directly link to their future university and careers.
There are some students whom have already chosen their IB subjects, followed by what they pursue in the future. However, there are still others whom are unsure of their choices and are unable to have confidence in them.
As a student in Year 11 said,
“I think it’s difficult to choose as the ‘right’ choices are considered to be crucial in our future, and the thought occurs to me that it can only be hard because it’s basically asking us to consider our future careers when up to this point, we have never been exposed to such matters of the ‘outside, adult world’.” (OOO Song)
Meanwhile, the Year 9s are concerned about their IGCSE as well. Indeed, it is their first official decision that is considered as being ‘important’.
One of the girls in Year 9 commented,
“I did not think that this was important, but when I heard from the year 11s that this choice will impact my IB choice, which would also lead to my future career, I realized that I should choose my subjects thoughtfully”.” (OOO Lee)
The final due date of both IGCSE and IB choices is on 23rd of February.
