On February 1st, our praiseworthy Branksome swimmers participated in the Korean International School Athletics Competition (KISAC) swimming event held in Korean International School Jeju (KIS Jeju). With Mr. Berghuis as the coach, eight girls from middle school including Kyungeun, Tianyu, Sunmin, Minki, Sejin, Sehee, Hyesung, and Skye have swam in three different events: 50m free, backstroke, and breaststroke.
The girls woke up at 6 a.m. and practiced solely for the competition. Despite their stiffened bodies, they willingly swam through pool and exposed their passion towards swimming training sessions. Their positive attitudes and enthusiasms were able to conquer the exhaustions from getting up early.
Because both our girls and other swimmers had zealously prepared for this KISAC competition, the atmosphere on the KISAC day was overwhelming. The passion and the slight feeling of competition filled the air and encouraged the swimmers to feel more anticipated. However, the Branksome girls were not nervous at all. As the day officially began, our swimmers readied and warmed themselves to swim through the pool.
Consequently, the results were breathtaking; here below are the results
Sejin Kim (Grade 7) – 1st place in 50m breaststrokes and 50m backstrokes
Tianyu Qui (Grade 7) – 2nd place in 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m breaststrokes, and 50m backstrokes
Skye (Grade 7) – 3rd place in50m breaststrokes
MinKi (Grade 7) – 2nd place in 50m backstrokes
Hyesong Hong (Grade 7) – 2nd place in 50m breaststrokes
Sunmin Park (Grade 10) – 3rd place in 50m freestyle
Afterwards, Branksome and the swimmers themselves celebrated their fascinating achievements with warm applauses. Branksome was proud to announce such outstanding performances and dedication from our swimmers. Their rigorous training sessions that required them to wake up early proved to be beneficial and effective. Their passion and hard works did really lead to such incredible results to happen in real life.
Although the Branksome swimmers had ended with such joyous results, they did not take a rest from training. Everyday, 6 a.m. in the morning, the swimming pool is still busy with the girls who are continuing to enhance their swimming skills. In fact, there are two more major games coming up soon.
